"Which Love"

There's a love
Warm and lush and brave
Sweeps you in a wave
Miles into a raging sea

There's a love
That's first as sweet as flowers
But soon turns stale and sour
Where once it promised only dreams

Please
Can you tell me, please...
Which are we?

So rarely do song lyrics read as poetry, and this is one of those times. Brilliantly concise words. Nice heartfelt vocal, and that guitar ... reminds me of the underrated players on Billie Holiday's records.

There's this thing you do here that you did on "Kyra" last year - writing the melody to go up on the high notes right where the emotion breaks in the words.  Works so well there and here - really affecting.  And I am digging this jazz direction again!

omg...... first fawm 2008 song to bring tears to my eyes.  i'm kinda surprised, cause there's been some really heartstring-tugging stuff on the site this year.  your delivery did the trick though.... during the 2nd "chorus" i teared up, and i'm still feeling kinda sniffly.  *sigh*  so simple and beautiful and sad.

Really smooth and bittersweet a nice mix of both so neither overwhelms you

awww.. no more Charlie? It can't be! You can't go out like this! Sure, it's a beautiful song, but I wanna hear a triumphant ballad or rocker or happy folk tune to end your 2008 run. Well, it was a good one, either way. Rock on!

I'm seeing images of a black stage with a single spotlight
centered on it from above. The smoke in the room dances in the light, otherwise you wouldn't know it even exsisted except for the smell.
In the light is the silouette of a guitar player draped over his guitar nearly falling off the barstool from all the fatigue of working 3 jobs to make ends meet!
Anyway, thats what I imagined listening to this.
The song was well done and your voice is excellent.

Really expanding your vocal abilities on this one. Stellar lyrics, really. Heartfelt and moving, delivered really well. Molto groovy jazz chords.

If this is goodbye, mon ami, it's a great one. Glorious.

In my head, FAWM 2008 was the year of Charlie C.
