I was driving between Austin and Houston and I saw this little christian radio station on the side of the road and I saw the green road sign too... that was enough to paint the picture for me of what was going on inside there.
Me solo, putting it down for posterity, one take.

Down highway nine
Past the dirt car track
There's a hundred feet of tower
And an eight foot shack
Electricity crackles
And the guide wire wail
With a hundred thousand watts
To save us all from hell
Crammed in that shack's
The reverend DJ Kurt
And he's sweatin' like a pig
In jeans and muscle shirt
And he grips the microphone
With his fears and prayers
When the red light signals
That he's on the air
From Old Potato Road
Old Potato Road
Six miles down on
Old Potato Road
The demons rise
And the red dust blows
Six miles down on
Old Potato Road
Well the saliva tastes bitter
In my mouth today
And I'm squintin' just a little
Figurin' out a way
How to stop that sucker
I'm gonna crack some wood
Gonna shut him up forever
Shut him up for good
On Old Potato Road
Old Potato Road
Six miles down on
Old Potato Road
The demons rise
And the red dust blows
Six miles down on
Old Potato Road
My chest is just swelling
From when I'll kick his ass
For telling folks in town
Those lies about my past
Yeah my eyes are yellowed
My arms have scars
But that's from lyin' in the dirt with him
Outside the doors
Of Old Potato Road
Old Potato Road
Six miles down on
Old Potato Road
The demons rise
And the red dust blows
Six miles down on
Old Potato Road
You know, it's kinda funny
Three-four years ago
That dry patch of dirt was good for nothing
Now it sears the air
With the reverend's call
And ads for easter sunday specials
At the outlet mall
On Old Potato Road
Old Potato Road
Six miles down on
Old Potato Road
The demons rise
And the red dust blows
Six miles down on
Old Potato Road
