One stomped out angrily
Another glides in slow
One roared off in his car
The other waves through the window
Isn't that how stories all unfold?
Someone new arrives
An old one goes
One holds her quietly
And whispers in her ear
The other yelled about everything
And lit a flame in her
The hottest are the hardest things to hold
Someone new arrives
An old one goes
Birds that sing and diamond rings and carvings etched in stone
Dogs that growl and cats that howl and numbers by the phone
Oh, today she misses things
Some passion and some pain
Today she wishes some
To feel him near again
Wistful of the things she bought and sold
Someone new arrives
An old one goes
Isn't that how stories all unfold?
Someone new arrives
An old one goes
